Expand Your View

Mountain Lens offers the inspiration and magic that creates an opportunity for you to connect with the treasures of your soul. Most of us have a lens through which we view the world . . . and most of us need to shake up that lens every now and then. That’s what Mountain Lens is all about. We create the opportunity for you to expand your view — in every possible way. We’re located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville, NC. So whether you’re a photographer looking to capture the magnificence of the area; a vacationer looking to breathe in one of the most beautiful places in the world; or an overworked soul who simply wants a change of scenery — then Mountain Lens is the place for you. We’re here to help you expand your view . . . through the mountain lens. Enjoy.

Mountain Lens is a unique twenty-acre retreat nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains that offers educational programs for photographers and other creative individuals. Even if you’re not a photographer, Mountain Lens offers peaceful getaways for nature-lovers. Our primary mission is to help photographers and other artists nurture, share, and master their craft and artistry in a peaceful and supportive environment.

Our training center steps out to a serene pond, a scenic waterfall, two foot bridges, and a mile of trails along meandering creeks and a forested hillside. Steps away are an elegant two-suite cottage and a private carriage house, accommodating up to thirteen people for extended stays and workshops.

You’ll be less than fifteen minutes from Hendersonville’s charming shops and restaurants, with Brevard and Asheville easily within reach.

Come and experience fulfillment and serenity at Mountain Lens!

Photography Workshops

Mountain Lens is an extraordinary setting to experience photography programs that are highly educational and inspirational. Our mission is to provide the finest technical and creative resources for photographers and other artists in a motivating, nurturing and beautiful natural environment.

Embedded in our twenty-acre mountain setting is a high-tech classroom as well as elegant accommodations for out-of-town guests. Whether a beginner or an experienced photographer, either one-on-one or in small-groups, you will be immersed in a beautiful environment in which to learn and master your technical and creative skills.

And just outside of our comfortable and well-equipped training center are twenty acres that feature ponds, waterfalls, and over a mile of cleared trails and foot bridges along meandering creeks, through a forested hillside, and up to a boulder-strewn hilltop. Photographic opportunities abound without ever needing to venture out to nearby DuPont State Forest or the Pisgah National Forest.

The Bamboo Cottage features ground-level lodging and upper-level lodging, each with its own separate entrance. Our ground-level Fox Den sleeps up to six people in two bedrooms on opposite sides of spacious great room and a full kitchen. Also in the Bamboo Cottage is our upper-level “Bird House” suite that sleeps up to three people in one bedroom and one more in a central living area, next to a well-equipped kitchenette.

Our Carriage House lodging is an upper-level studio that we call the “Tree House” because of its proximity to the forested hillside. It’s a very comfortable, open space that sleeps up to three people, and features a well-equipped kitchenette.

Parking is just steps away from all lodging areas. Luxury amenities include high-definition TVs and high-speed WiFi.
